James was born and raised in Asheville, NC and attended N.C. State University while earning a B.A. in Psychology. After graduating in 1992, he entered into part-time ministry as a youth pastor and worked in construction while living in Durham, NC. In 1995, James returned to Asheville and spent time in full-time ministry,  built houses for a season and opened a screen printing and sign business.  In 2016, James was privileged to be a part of a team that planted Reach Life Church, where he currently serves as the lead pastor.  James has a deep love for the family and a passion to see believers grow in their love for the Gospel, especially in the context of cross-­generational discipleship. He and his wife Kelli have been married for 29 years and have been blessed with 6 children, 2 wonderful daughters-in-law, and 4 beautiful grandchildren.
